Have you seen a TV or DVD version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol this year? If not, I hope you will soon, if you can make the time.
Last night while Jim (Dad) and our son-in-law were at a Bruins game, we "girls"--two daughters and I--watched Patrick Stewart as Scrooge and a cast that includes outstanding acting for the characters of Bob Cratchett, his wife, the boy that runs to buy the largest turkey, and all other characters, Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig not least among them.
"Though Christmas has never put a penny in my pocket, l believe it has done me good! So l say God bless it!"
"I want nothing from you; I ask nothing of you; why cannot we be friends?" (script)
These comments reflect thoughts today about keeping focus on the meaning of the Day and not giving up on special people in family or close circles who may be suspicious of friendship's motives. This Christmas, may we be undeterred by rejection and spurred on by love.
Wishing you and everyone at WryteStuff a blessed Christmas in the joy of Christ, the Lord! "Hark, the herald angels sing, 'Glory to the newborn King!'" May the comforts of God be yours in abundance.
*Spoken by Scrooge's nephew, Fred, to his uncle, in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol
